3 Steps to Getting More Blog Traffic

Anybody can create blog quickly and easily with all the blog creation tools available today. But once your blog is created, getting traffic to the blog is another issue entirely. Just because you built a blog doesn’t mean anyone will visit it. You must create traffic by promoting the blog and the more traffic you drive to the blog the more money you’ll make. Here are three methods I’ve personally used to drive traffic to my blog. They’ll work for you too.

1. Post New Content Regularly

Many new bloggers make the mistake of creating a blog, making the first post and then forgetting about it. Especially at the beginning, your blog needs constant attention in terms of making new posts. Why would anyone want to visit a blog if new posts are made infrequently? Its best post once per day or at least every other day for the first month.

You should post on a regular basis so your visitor and the search engines know to expect new content added to your blog on a regular basis. As long as your posts are informative or entertaining, you’ll attract more visitors over time. And you want the search engines to come regularly to index your blog posts which in turn will attract even more visitors.

2. Make Comments on Relevant Blogs

Another effective strategy is to make comments on relevant blogs. A simple search on your favorite search engine should reveal several blogs on similar topics. All other things being equal, you’ll want to leave comments on higher PR blogs since those links will be more valuable.

Take some time to read several posts on the blog to get a feel for it. Then make a constructive comment to one of the posts. Don’t just comment with some rubbish, contribute to the conversation. If your comment adds value, people will be more likely to want to visit your blog. Leave your name and a link to your blog to allow readers and easy way to click over to your blog.

3. Build a List

Really Simple Syndication or RSS is a popular way to share your blog with readers. It allows visitors to subscribe to your blog’s RSS feed. Several autoresponder services such as aweber have the capability to send an email notification whenever a new blog post is created.

RSS works very similar to an opt-in list. You just put a simple form on your blog and allow visitors to provide their name and an email address. Now they’ll be notified every time a new post is made to your blog. It’s very simple to do and is a great way to increase blog traffic. Visit CyberCashology.com to see an example.

To be sure these are not the only ways to drive traffic to blogs; we’ll look at more ways in future articles.
