Last month, a good friend of mine slipped on the ice and broke a hip. Thanks to modern medicine, he has a nice new one, but even with insurance he also has a stack of new bills, too. Since a retirement income just does not have much slack, he started looking for a way to earn some extra money even before leaving the hospital using his laptop computer.

He had no idea where to start once he used “make money” in a search and heard plenty of talk about making money online. Once reading articles about what to look out for, he knew a lot about the ways that were less than reputable for people looking after potential suckers.

He got tons and tons of hits for plans to stuff envelopes in your residence which he had been told was in no way the way to go. You can make money easily was the promise of many of these businesses an amount for each envelope. This was all true until you read the fine print. The amount one makes is based on whether people purchase anything from the advertising you send out - and the real numbers are not very good.

There were other pretty questionable offers. A lot were to pay money to take surveys to make money and he knew that this was a real way to earn a small but nice amount of money because he already belonged to one survey site that paid a few dollars for each completed on and sometimes sent out nice free samples. He knew that legitimate sites don’t charge you, and that you don’t need to pay anyone to find survey opportunities. Instead, he found online bulletin boards, discussion forums and chat rooms with good tips.

Next he looked into sites that offer to pay for your writing, and found that some of them were real possibilities although it could take time to see much case. It was then he realized he was already writing every day on his blog, since he was keeping a journal about his fall and the issues it had created for him. Why not make money from the blog? He had learned about accepting ads on his blog pages and signed up to allow this.

He decided to get more traffic, since the ads only pay off if people see them and click them. He belonged to several forums and where allowed, he started posting the links to his blog, so that others with similar interests would come to read and thus see the ads. He learned about key words and began to add them to his posts to attract more traffic that way as well. Gradually, his ads are beginning to make money for him. Next, he’s thinking about opening an online shop to sell homemade wood toys!

Many people first learn about how to earn some extra money using online search engines. For those who need to make money, this is always a good starting point. However, many plans for making money online are dupes and fakes, so you have to be careful. The best ways to do so are posting ads on your site for people to click on. Every time someone does, a small amount of money is credited to you. By managing your site traffic correctly, you can gradually being to make some more money.
