Transform Your Restaurant From Afternoon To Night

by Patricia Farnham

It is a good idea to transform the atmosphere of your restaurant from the afternoon to night. You want your customers who come in for either meal to be very happy with what they find. Dinner is often a classier meal for those who choose to dine out so make sure you offer them something spectacular. It doesn’t have to cost you very much or be difficult to achieve.

Many restaurants use paper place mats on their tables. This is acceptable but you can kick it up a notch for dinner. Those paper place mats can remain in place through the lunch hour. Then you can add cloths to them in colors that compliment the atmosphere you want to create. You can also change from paper napkins to cloth napkins for the evening meal.

What type of accessories do you offer on the table right now? You may not have anything at all or you may have fake flowers in a tiny vase. That may be fine for the lunch crowd but you want to offer something nicer for your dinner guests. Beautiful candles on the table will create a nice look. You may want them to be for display only but you can choose to light them as well.

Come up with a creative way to accent the table by placing pretty flowers, candles, or other decorations on them. You want there to be something more personal and appealing for dinner than lunch. Swapping them out when they table clothes are put out for dinner time is very simple though. It will definitely create a unique look that goes over well with your guests.

Music is a very simple yet effective change you can make as well. Soft music is good for all day long, but you may want to change what is playing at night. Think about music that will help your guests to relax. You want them to unwind and not be in a hurry to complete their meal. During the day though you may choose to go with something faster that reflects the pace of most people during that time.

Casual seating is common for the lunch crowd but you want it to be more guided for dinner. A hostess should seat the guests based on their preference of seating in the evening. If you expect the place to be quite busy you may allow people to call ahead to place a reservation as well.

You can easily implement these tips as well as others that may be a good move for your specific type of restaurant. If you are careful in your planning stages you will find this transformation doesn’t have to be expensive. You should view it as an investment in the longevity of your restaurant. You want this to be something that works quite well for you and that staff can accomplish in a short span of time.

Making these changes for your restaurant from afternoon to night can be very simple too. You will need to have your staff allocate some time to make physical changes to it. You will also need to invest in some supplies to accomplish this. Other types of changes though aren’t going to cost you anything at all. Yet they will certainly be very effective and get more customers coming in for both lunch and dinner.
