What to do When a Good AdWords Campaign Goes Bad
You’ve done it! You’ve completed your product launch and you have a long list of keywords. Your website is just right and your ads are slick. You have your Adwords campaign up and running just as it should be and you even followed all their how to suggestions.
Why is it that its costing you more than you are making?
There are a number of reasons for an AdWords campaign to go wrong; however, the most common reason for the failure of a well thought out campaign strategy is the improper selection of keywords.
Properly chosen keywords are the key to success with your ad campaign, they key to locating people who want what you have to offer. With improperly chosen keywords you will have a website that either doesn’t get any visitors or that gets all the wrong visitors, ones looking for something other that what you have to offer and you end up spending your advertising budget on useless traffic.
First thing to do is utilize the tracking feature available for use with your Google Adwords account. Discover which of the ads you are using is bringing in profitable traffic. Ads that aren’t bringing profitable traffic should be trashed or re written.
Look over the keywords in use with these ads; you can count these as not being the best for your ad at this time. Keep them though; you may need them at a later time in the changing tides of the market place. They may be quite useful.
After you have done this take a look at the ads which are bringing in leads and determine how many of these leads are generating sales. It does you more harm than good to run a pay per click marketing campaign and have idle viewers choosing to view your ad; suddenly your advertising budget is being drained and you are getting no return for it.
Look at your keywords carefully and identify which ones are attracting the idle visitors and which ones are attracting paying customers. It could be as basic as the wording of the ads that is making the difference but it also could be one or more keywords that needs discarding or replacing.
To protect yourself and your advertising budget from wasting away on unsuccessful campaigns, monitor your Adwords campaigns and take the time to carry out the tasks weekly or bi-weekly.
When you carefully monitor your AdWords campaign and tend to problems as they crop up you can keep your advertising monies working productively.
